At JLR, the transition to electrification is integral to our Reimagine strategy. But our transformation extends beyond our vehicles; it encompasses a culture shift, continuous training and meticulous detail to ensure we are curating the ultimate electric experience for our clients.

Andrew joined JLR during the pandemic; “I moved from the defence industry, working on nuclear‑powered submarine acoustics into battery technology. Originally, I was responsible for the battery’s concept design for our Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) architecture. Now, I oversee full propulsion system integration. I think about how the battery, the Electric Drive Unit (EDU), the cooling system, the junction box, a bunch of brackets and other parts fit in the car from a geometric point of view, and that they’re connected properly. 

“I work closely with manufacturing to ensure the battery is buildable, robust, and high quality. Any hardware issues from rigorous prototype testing come through me.” 

He thrives on variety, from design and packaging to testing and issue resolution, while managing a fleet of 70 vehicles. “I love being hands on and getting into the product. It’s a great feeling knowing my work is giving the client that quality product they want. We'll work with all the different component owners to resolve issues as they are uncovered, one day the battery and the next motors or cooling system. Focused on how to unlock the required extra capability, designing new components if we need to, or fixing a car which has had a fault on the proving ground.”
