At JLR, the transition to electrification is integral to our Reimagine strategy. But our transformation extends beyond our vehicles; it encompasses a culture shift, continuous training and meticulous detail to ensure we are curating the ultimate electric experience for our clients.

Now, as JLR enters a new era of electrification, Darren and his team are behind some of the most advanced manufacturing systems ever introduced to our plants.

“I’ve been part of a team responsible for building new assembly halls from the ground up ‑ from installing every piece of equipment to creating full maintenance organisations. The scale is incredible,” Darren said. 

“Every piece of new technology going into our electrified facilities has one goal: to make sure we build these vehicles safely, consistently and to the highest standards.” 

In Solihull’s electrified final assembly facilities, millions of pounds of new technology are being installed ‑ from battery‑loading stations and precision conveyors to specialist testing equipment and autonomous‑driving calibration rigs. Darren’s role is to make sure each of these systems can be safely maintained, repaired quickly, and optimised so our teams can build electric Range Rovers and the new electric Jaguars with confidence. 

Darren’s career has taken him from designing automation in his early days to leading major build‑hall launches, creating new maintenance organisations from scratch, and supporting teams of more than 100 people. And he still loves the variety.
